It's the most wonderful time of the year! Returning for a special Christmas episode, Will and Kevin are joined by writer, film critic, author, podcaster, and Empire's resident Geek Queen, Ireland's own Helen O'Hara who "literally" drops in to chat Santa Claus films and all things Father Christmas.
#27 - BEST MUPPETS SCENE
It's the final episode of season 2 and it's Muppetmania on the pod. Joined for an impromptu chat with Muppet superfan Liam Geraghty (an award-winning audio producer of radio and podcasts like Meet Your Maker and Petrified), Kevin and Will take a deep dive into the beloved creations of Jim Henson and revel in the utter joy of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzy and the rest.
♫ It's time to play the podcast, produced by two gobshites, it's time to hear these muppets from The Best Bits show tonight. ♫
#26 - BEST WHODUNIT SCENE
When it comes to Whodunits, many names come to mind, Raymond Chandler, Agatha Christie, Otto Preminger, but when it comes to who brought it? Will and Kevin's extra special guest co-host did. A writer of five books, four movies, and the host of one long-running podcast. It’s C. Robert Cargill.
#25 - BEST JUMP SCARE
Boo! Happy Halloween!
For this spooky and kooky episode on Jump Scares, The Corpse of Kevin and The Ghost of Will are joined by the Toronto Slayer Kate Ghoulin, a.k.a. film director Kate Dolan. Fresh off her Halloween horror film "You Are Not My Mother" premiering in Midnight Madness at the Toronto Internation Film Festival, Kate helps deliver a cracking episode on the moments from movies that give us goosebumps, make us scream, and have us on the edge of our seats.
#24 - BEST ONE NIGHT IN THE CITY SCENE
Will and Kevin are joined by film director Adam Randall whose fourth film "Night Teeth" is released worldwide today on Netflix starring Debby Ryan, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Lucy Fry, Alfie Allen, and Megan Fox. Coincidentally, "Night Teeth" is chock full of scenes that take place over one night in the city. Funny how that happens.
#23 - BEST UNSCRIPTED, ‘JUMP THE SHARK’ & CAMEO SCENE
In an impromptu last-minute recording, throwing caution to the wind, Kevin ropes in a surprise special guest to help him and Will with not one, not two, but three bite-size scene themes! Best Unscripted Scene, Best "Jump the Shark" Scene, and Best Cameo Scene. In a freewheeling episode, Irish screenwriter Pierce Ryan (Standby, Black '47) drops in and drops knowledge.
#22 - BEST ANIMATED SCENE
Will's director of Wolfwalkers and Song of the Sea, the three-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Tomm Moore, co-founder of world-renowned and award-winning Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, joins him and Kevin for this episode to discuss great moments from classic hand-drawn animation films.
#21 - BEST KID SCENE
Never send a boy to do a man's job! So for this episode, Will and Kevin are joined by another extra special guest. This week it's writer/director Ciarán Foy (Eli, Sinister 2, Citadel, The Haunting of Bly Manor) who has just so happened to have directed child actors in every one of his produced projects. From child stars to movie brats, choosing a favourite scene with a Kid Protagonist gave us a first in the show's history. But what is it? And who did they pick? Could it be Mac and Me?!
#20 - BEST WORLD WAR II SCENE
It was one of the greatest conflicts in world history and it inspired some of the greatest filmmakers to make some of the greatest films ever made. This was a job too big for two podcasters, and so for this episode, Will and Kevin have drafted in Irish screenwriter Jamie Hannigan (Pilgrimage) to join them on what proves an epic quest to find the Best World War II Scene! Oh, and Kevin's parents pop in.
#19 - BEST SEQUEL/REBOOT SCENE
Kevin and Joe are joined by a special guest for the brand new reboot of the show -- Irish screenwriter Will Collins, writer of Wolfwalkers, Song of the Sea, and former co-host of The Best Bits. Joe Barton, a screenwriter of films like Encounter, The Ritual and TV like Giri/Haji takes over for Will as Kevin's new co-host in an episode all about sequels, soft reboots, and the rising trend of legacyquels.
#18 - BEST CHARACTER INTRO
Will and Kevin kick off Season 2 with Best Character Intro Scene. A theme suggested by the listeners on Twitter. When it comes to memorable movie moments, few things top a first impression. From King Kong to Cameron Diaz, Jack Burton to The Borg Queen, Will takes Kevin on an epic journey through nine styles of introductory scenes where some of our favourite characters make some unforgettable grand entrances.
#17 - BEST ROBOT SCENE
Robots, Fembots, Autobots, Droids, cyborgs, Synthetics, and Replicants. They make up some of the best heroes and villains and stalwart side-kicks and for this episode - as suggested by the Clash of the Titles podcast - Will and Kevin are engaging in robot wars and battling two titans of the big screen. Joined by a special A.I. named Podbot, strap yourself in for the nuttiest installment yet in this final episode of season one.
#16 - BEST SINGLE-TAKE SCENE
Single-takes, long takes, oners! They have many names and require many hands on deck to work. In this final episode of season one, Will and Kevin do it live, kinda, for an unedited episode that is all go and no stopping. Can they pull it off? And what did they pick?
